To frontline hospital staff, BMC workers, Police and families in financial distress in Mumbai
When the lockdown was announced in march 2020, we were just a couple of girls, confused, worried, and even optimistic that it would end soon. However, a week into the lockdown, feeling helpless and in despair that so many people were going without food, we decided to do something about it at a grassroots level!
We found a shopkeeper and a tempo driver to help and started arranging and distributing ration food kits.
In 2020, we raised over Rs. 1 Crore in generous donations and provided food kits and supplies to approximately 10,000 families to help them survive the worst of the first lockdown.
A year later, and we find ourselves in the same tragic situation. While the human loss and cases are at an all time high, the economy, which was just about getting back on its feet, was dealt another blow with the lockdown. This time around, a few more of us have come together and to help the needy with ration kits and provide hot cooked meals to our frontline workers who risk their lives for us; and to the homeless, who have no other way to eat.
A donation of Rs. 13,200 will provide ration for 10 families for a month or 220 hot meals for our frontline and homeless.
We hope you join hands with us to help those who need it during this crisis
